What causes acne? There is no single answer to this question. According to experts, imbalance of androgens and estrogens (both are hormones, found in women and men) may have an impact. Causes of acne cannot be easily described. Some acne causes may be genetic. There are many acne vulgaris causes, not one particular (in medical terms acne is defined as polietiological disease, which means that several causes leads to the illness). Although exact acne causes remain unknown, there are four major pathological processes, which lead to acne development. These are increased skin sebum production, increased keratinization, specific bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes) colonization and inflammation.
A patient may ask what causes back acne. Body acne is a term used to describe acne that has spread over the patient’s body. It usually manifests on the back and chest. The reasons are the same – probably misbalance of androgens and estrogens, genetic predisposition, maybe some environmental factors (lack of hygiene, stress, and some individual factors). Adult acne causes are the same as well. Usually acne develops because of more than one factor. Causes of adult acne, back acne and cystic acne are similar. There is no single cause of acne, but it is useful to determine what causes acne breakouts. Stress, lack of sleep, some medicine (especially taken incorrectly), and lack of hygiene can cause acne breakouts.
What foods cause acne?
Some particular food products can harshen acne. Foods that cause acne are dairy products, junk food, and greasy food.
Acne is not dangerous, but it may leave scars, which are hard to get rid of. It is important to understand what causes acne scars. If acne is treated correctly, scars will not develop. However, some acne types leave lesions that are prone to form scars. These lesions contain inflammation. All process happens deeply beneath the skin surface. For example, cystic acne cause scarring more frequently. Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne, which causes painful inflammation and later leaves very noticeable scars. Only when treated correctly, cystic acne does not leave scars.
